Dr. Simkhada is a distinguished Nepali diplomat, scholar, and public intellectual, widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to international relations, diplomacy, and global governance.
Born in Dhading District, Nepal, Dr. Simkhada earned his Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Miami, USA, in 1986, becoming the first Nepali to achieve a doctorate in this field. Over his illustrious career, he has served in several high-level diplomatic roles, including as Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, and as Ambassador of Nepal to Switzerland.
Dr. Simkhada has represented Nepal in numerous global forums, contributing to policy dialogues on development, peace, and human rights. Beyond diplomacy, he has been deeply engaged in academia and policy research — serving as a lecturer, policy analyst, and advisor on matters of foreign policy and national security. His work uniquely bridges academic insight and practical statecraft, earning him respect both nationally and internationally.
As a prolific writer and researcher, Dr. Simkhada has authored several influential works, including:
