Euro MUN 3.0 – Opening Ceremony Program

The much-anticipated Opening Ceremony of Euro MUN 3.0 commenced at Euro School Chhauni, marking the official beginning of three days of diplomacy, debate, and dialogue. The event began with a warm welcome by the Master of Ceremony, Ms. Sabina Shrestha, who set the tone for an inspiring and intellectually enriching conference.

The program was chaired by Ms. Rohini Pradhan, Principal of Euro School Chhauni, who graciously welcomed all the distinguished guests and participants. The ceremony was graced by His Excellency Dr. Shambhu Ram Simkhada as the Chief Guest—a renowned Nepali diplomat, scholar, and former Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations and WTO, as well as former Ambassador to Switzerland and former Chairman of the UN Human Rights Council. Alongside him were Mr. Manoj Parajuli, Managing Director of Euro School Chhauni, as the Special Guest, and Mr. Ekaraj Aryal, Chief Administrative Officer, as the Guest of Honor. The session was conducted by Ms. Sofiya Bhandari and Ms. Manasa Bagale.

Following the introduction of guests, the Inauguration Ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the Panas accompanied by Mangalacharan, symbolizing the light of knowledge and the spirit of peace. The ritual was performed by the Chairperson and the Chief Guest, with the proceedings led by Ms. Laxmi KC.

The hall then resonated with the National Anthem of Nepal, uniting everyone in a spirit of pride and patriotism. This was followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Sleshna Tuladhar, Deputy Secretary General of Euro MUN 3.0, who warmly greeted all the dignitaries, delegates, and participants. Soon after, a heartfelt welcome song was presented by Grade 6 student Ms. Aisha Manandhar, adding a melodious touch to the ceremony.

The event then proceeded with the introduction of the Organizing Committee, recognizing the passionate team that made Euro MUN 3.0 possible. The committee is led by Secretary General Ms. Lijala Shakya, along with Deputy Secretary General Ms. Sleshna Tuladhar, Director General Ms. Akshyata Tuladhar, Executive General Ms. Sofiya Bhandari, and other dedicated heads and coordinators responsible for communications, logistics, delegate affairs, design, and operations.

The Chairperson then presented ID cards and badges to the organizing team in appreciation of their contributions. Soon after, the audience had the privilege of hearing an enlightening Keynote Speech on International Relations and Diplomacy delivered by the Chief Guest, His Excellency Dr. Shambhu Ram Simkhada, who inspired young delegates to embrace diplomacy, peacebuilding, and critical global engagement.

Following this, the Secretary General conducted the Gavel Distribution Ceremony, officially appointing the Executive Board Members and DIAS Officers of each committee. The committees included the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Federal Parliament of Nepal (FPN), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the International Press (IP).

Secretary General Ms. Lijala Shakya then delivered her official opening speech, extending gratitude to all attendees and formally declaring the Euro MUN 3.0 Committee Sessions open. Her address reflected the essence of Model United Nations — fostering dialogue, leadership, and understanding among youth.

The ceremony concluded with the official commencement of committee sessions, where delegates from various committees began engaging in discussions, debates, and resolutions on global issues, carrying forward the true spirit of the United Nations.
