Are We Really Seeing Our Children’s Behaviour Clearly?

As parents, the moment we notice a sudden change in our child’s behaviour, our hearts naturally fill with worry. Maybe they start hitting others, using inappropriate language, or acting out rudely. Instantly, our minds begin searching for a cause — and most of the time, the blame falls on external influences: friends, school, teachers, neighbours, or the environment outside the home.

Yes, sometimes those factors do play a role.
But how often do we pause and ask ourselves:

“What are they being exposed to at home?”

In today’s digital age, one harsh reality stands out — children are becoming increasingly addicted to screens. To keep them quiet, occupied, or distracted, we hand them a phone, an iPad, or a tablet. And in that moment of convenience, we often forget one crucial thing:

They see everything we see.
While scrolling, they encounter the same reels and videos that appear in our feeds — sarcastic jokes, family drama, shouting, pranks, and sometimes even violent behaviour.

And the scary part?

They imitate it without even understanding that it’s wrong.
Not because someone taught them intentionally, but because children learn effortlessly from whatever they are exposed to. Their young minds absorb behaviours silently, and they copy what they see — even if it’s harmful.

This should worry us.

Because the behaviour we are concerned about isn’t always coming from outside influences.
Sometimes, it’s coming directly from the screen we handed them.

This is why it’s so important to delay mobile exposure, limit screen time, and stay mindful of what our children are watching.

Let’s remember:

👉 Their little minds are still learning.
👉 Their behaviour is shaped by what they see.
👉 And we, as parents, hold the responsibility to guide and protect them.

Small mindful steps today — reducing screen time, supervising content, and offering real-life engagement — can make a huge difference in their future behaviour, emotional growth, and overall wellbeing.

Let’s protect their innocent minds before it’s too late.
Because what they learn now becomes who they become tomorrow.
